"La guerra... maestra severa". Tucídides y la Enseñanza

In this article, the writer wants to show the teachings of Thucydides, Greek historian from old times, regarding the violent phenomenon of civil war. With war as a framework and human nature as underlying background, Thucydides notices the violent, thoughtless, and vengeful behavior of human beings; the evil found in the use of the lenguage and its influence on human performance; the moral degradation clearly visible in evil, fanaticism and corrupt political activity; the success of slyness and recklessness over kindness and strength; and, as a concluding idea, the consciousness of the dangerous and self-destructive nature of rational beings when they lose control of themselves and disregard human and divine laws.Este trabajo pretende mostrar las enseñanzas extraídas del violento fenómeno de la guerra civil por Tucídides, historiador griego de la antigüedad. En el marco de la guerra y con el trasfondo de la "naturaleza humana", nuestro autor se percata del proceder violento, irreflexivo y vengativo del ser humano; de la perversión operada en el lenguaje y su incidencia en las acciones humanas; de la degradación moral, patente en la maldad, el fanatismo y la corrupción de la actividad política; del triunfo de la astucia y la temeridad sobre la bondad y la fuerza y, finalmente, como conclusión, de la conciencia de la peligrosa y autodestructiva naturaleza del ser racional cuando pierde el dominio de sí y no atiende a las leyes humanas y divinas
